Thought Piece: Committed to Belonging and Each Other

By: The Center for Economic Opportunity & Belonging’s Team

Over the last year, we have been working to establish the Center as a facilitator and proponent for bipartisanship- bridging the political divide is critical to building belonging for all. We are committed to our founding values of humility, dignity, and respect. We must admit that it has not been an easy journey - it is hard to stay true to these values when our fear grabs hold. However, we are at a moment where we must work collectively to overcome our fears and dedicate ourselves to the hard work ahead.

Taking time to recuperate and recenter ourselves is necessary when emotions are high. We encourage you to take some time for yourself and when you are ready, you must rejoin us on this journey to find common ground. Choosing to be passive during these critical times is not an option.

The path forward cannot be created by one person, ideology, or creed. The path forward must be created by many hands who represent the diversity of this country. The work will not be easy and not fast, but it is worth the effort. We, meaning all of us, are worth the effort, and our country is worth the effort.

Join us in this journey and take action to build a bigger we.

Sincerely,

The Center for Economic Opportunity & Belonging’s Team
